Paula Glassman | Branding & E-Commerce Website

Problem: Paula Glassman is a long standing customer of on-IDLE with her first website build almost a decade ago. Paula's photography career has evolved to focus on still life and she is now able to produce and sell prints of some of the images. Her website no only needed to be e-commerce enabled, but also be easy to manage and update as new images become available.

Solution: As a photographer, the order and placement of images on the layout grid is critical. A comlex 12-column grid is used to support the website layout design and the core CMS Framework (CakePHP) was heavily customised to create an enhanced grid builder over which Paula has complete in-house control.

Highlight: Paula's utter delight after days of worrying, that she will need to scribble on paper the placement of images on the homepage and then optimise each individual in Photoshop to pixel perfect sizing – and then to discover that with the CMS she can literally drag and drop positioning and on clicking 'save' the system auto-adjusts the sizing and grid layout as per the custom math algorithm we programmed.

Image position, sizing and having a consistent grid was very important for Paula. So we enhanced the grid functionality in our bespoke CMS so she can just upload images, sort them into rows and have full control about how many pictures she wants in one row. The CMS then calculates the right scaling – without changing the image proportions. There are always perfect aligned rows on the website – on Desktop, on Tablets and on Mobiles.

Of course do we give the individual images enough space to shine. With an easy navigation can the user click through the images, or click the gallery icon to go back to the overview page.

One of the main reason to update the existing website was to integrate a shopping functionality. We used our – at the moment – most favourite system. Stripe, so incredible user experience and super friendly integration from a technical point
