Gurten Park | Sustainability Campaign

Problem: Gurten have strived for the environment since their opening in 1999, where for example they use LED lightbulbs, grey water and with the installation of solar panels. To promote this, they returned to on-IDLE to produce a design to be applied onto recyclable takeaway food packaging, so that they can shout it to the world. Alongside this, matching Environmental Graphics were required for display where customers queue to get on board the Gurtenbahn.

Solution: A uniform design throughout several packaging types (drinks cups, coffee cups, soup cups, ice cream pots, hot food trays and salad trays). Each illustration was carefully chosen to reflect Gurten’s specific environmental actions. Unique facts and easy swaps featured on each type of packaging, so the customer can learn how they can change their own lifestyle habits to positively affect the environment. A QR code is also applied to each item which leads to further information online.

Highlight: To have the opportunity to work on a large range of formats, and creating a successfully unified design across all items, despite certain material constraints.
